Important Information Before Scheduling an Appointment
A psychiatrist will perform an initial evaluation to address mental health concerns and develop a treatment plan in collaboration with the family. Â
A psychiatrist is a physician who can prescribe medication if needed.Â
If you are seeking talk therapy only, please call (713) 351-7360.Â
Please be advised that Legacy does not complete court ordered evaluations or evaluations for the specific purpose of SSDI (social security disability) determination or custody proceedings. Â
If you or your child is in crisis, please dial 911. Â
Online scheduling for virtual psychiatry is currently only available for pediatric patients. If you are trying to schedule for an adult, please call (713) 351-7360. Â
After the initial virtual appointment, you may be required to have in-person visits occasionally to adhere to standards of care.Â
Our support staff will be in contact with you before the visit to obtain any additional information that may be needed. To ensure we can provide care for your child we need to confirm who has legal authority to consent for medical services for the child. For example, if there is a custody agreement, we will need you to provide documentation of this. In absence of this documentation, your appointment may be cancelled. The patient’s guardian/medical decision maker must be present for the initial appointment. Â
Language translation services are available to use during the appointment.Â
